This Privacy Policy applies to WhiMeet apps (including iOS and Android) and the website https://whimeet.com/ (together, “WhiMeet” “we,” “our,” and “us”). WhiMeet strives to strengthen community bonds by facilitating communications, connections, and activities. We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and otherwise process information about you in connection with your use of WhiMeet. Capitalized terms that are not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meaning given to them in the Terms of Use.


We reserve the right to change, modify, or remove portions of this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will provide notice of any material changes through WhiMeet or by other means as we deem appropriate before they take effect. Please check back periodically for any changes we may make to the Privacy Policy. Your continued use of WhiMeet following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy means you accept these changes.


1. Personal Information We Collect

We may collect information from and about you, including information that you provide and automatically collected information.


Information You Provide.


When you create an account, contact us directly, or otherwise use WhiMeet, you may provide some or all of the following information:


  • Account and profile information, such as name, username, password, gender, birth date, age, address, zip code, email, phone number, and profile image.
  • Information in correspondence you send to us, including when you contact us for support.
  • Messages, which include information you provide when you compose, send, or receive messages to or from other users through the chat and messaging functionalities of WhiMeet, if such functionalities are enabled.
  • User-generated content, including comments, photographs, videos, text, hashtags, promotions, that you choose to create with or upload to WhiMeet (“User Content”) and the associated metadata, such as when, where, and by whom the content was created.
  • Information you provide when registering for or participate in the events published on our platform.
  • Contacts, friends, and followers list, when you invite others to join or become your friend in WhiMeet by providing us with their contact information, or by allowing us to access contacts.
  • Personal settings, including personal account settings viewable to you but not shared with other users, such as your choices and communication preferences and privacy settings.
  • Other personal information that you choose to share, post, or transmit to WhiMeet.
  • 2. Automatically Collected Information.

    We automatically collect certain information from you when you use WhiMeet, including internet or other network activity information such as your IP address, geolocation-related data, unique device identifiers, browsing and search history, and Cookies.


  • Usage Information. We collect information regarding your use of WhiMeet (such as your browsing activities, the dates, times, duration, and frequency of your interactions on WhiMeet, the posts you like, comment, repost, or vote, the users you follow) and any other User Content that you generate through or upload to WhiMeet.
  • Location Data. We collect information about your precise or approximate location, including location information based on your GPS, SIM card and/or IP address.
  • Device Information. We collect certain information about the device you use to access WhiMeet, such as your IP address, mobile carrier, model of your device, the device system, network type, device IDs, operating system, audio settings and connected audio devices.
  • Search terms. We collect the search terms you enter using WhiMeet or on a referring website.
  • Metadata. When you upload or create User Content, you automatically upload certain metadata that is connected to the User Content. Metadata describes other data and provides information about your User Content that will not always be evident to the viewer. For example, in connection with your User Content the metadata can describe how, when, where, and by whom the piece of User Content was created, collected, or modified and how that content is formatted.
  • Cookies. We and our service providers and business partners use cookies and other similar technologies (e.g., web beacons, flash cookies, etc.) (“Cookies”) to automatically collect information, measure and analyze how you use WhiMeet, including which pages you view most often and how you interact with content, enhance your experience using WhiMeet and improve our services provided through WhiMeet. We may also choose to use Cookies to promote WhiMeet on other platforms and websites. Cookies enable WhiMeet to provide certain features and functionality. Web beacons are very small images or small pieces of data embedded in images, also known as “pixel tags” or “clear GIFs,” that can recognize Cookies, the time and date a page is viewed, a description of the page where the pixel tag is placed, and similar information from your computer or device.
  • 3. How We Use Your Information

    We use your information to improve, support and administer WhiMeet, to allow you to use its functionalities, and to fulfill and enforce our Terms of Use. We generally use your information in the following ways:


  • To provide, administer, and maintain WhiMeet services you've requested or agreed to receive.
  • To provide you with services customized to your preferences.
  • To fulfill requests for functionality, support, and information for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical, and survey purposes and to solicit your feedback.
  • To improve and develop WhiMeet and conduct product development.
  • To understand how you use WhiMeet, including across your devices.
  • To help us detect abuse, fraud, and illegal activity on WhiMeet and.
  • To promote the safety and security of WhiMeet, including by analyzing and reviewing User Content, messages, and associated metadata for violations of our Terms of Use, or other conditions and policies.
  • To verify your identity in order to use WhiMeet.
  • To communicate with you, including to notify you about changes in WhiMeet, and expiration and renewal notices about your accounts and subscriptions.
  • To enforce our Terms of Use and other conditions and policies.
  • To train and improve our technology, such as our machine learning models and algorithms.
  • For any other purposes disclosed to you at the time we collect your information or pursuant to your consent.
  • We may aggregate or de-identify personal information so that it may no longer be used to identify you and use such information to analyze the effectiveness of and to improve and add features to WhiMeet.

    We are committed to maintaining your trust. We want you to understand when and with whom we may share your information for business purposes.


    Service Providers and Business Partners.


    We share the categories of personal information listed above with service providers and business partners to help us perform business operations and for business purposes, including research, database maintenance, designing and operating WhiMeet features, payment processing and transaction fulfillment, technology services, sending communications, advertising and marketing services, analytics, measurement, data storage, hosting and recovery, and data processing. The service providers and business partners are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.


    For Legal Reasons.


    We may also disclose your information, including information about your interaction with WhiMeet, (a) to respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, law enforcement requests, legal claims, or government inquiries, (b) to protect and defend the rights, interests, safety, and security of WhiMeet, its users, or the public, and (c) to enforce any terms applicable to WhiMeet, to exercise or defend any legal claims, and comply with any applicable law.


    Business Transfer.


    We reserve the right to disclose and transfer all information related to WhiMeet, including, without limitation, your personal information and usage information: (i) to a subsequent owner, co-owner or operator of WhiMeet or applicable database; or (ii) in connection with a corporate merger, consolidation, restructuring, the sale of substantially all of our stock and/or assets or other corporate change, including, without limitation, during the course of any due diligence process.

    We may share your information for other purposes pursuant to your consent or at your direction.


    5. Links to Other Websites and Services

    We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites or services linked to or from WhiMeet, including the information or content contained therein (e.g., Stripe, or any third-party websites or services). Please remember that our Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for, and we do not exercise control over, any third parties that you authorize to access your User Content or other publicly posted or shared content. This Privacy Policy does not apply to information we collect by other means (including offline) or from other sources other than through WhiMeet.


    6. Data Security

    Personal information collected via WhiMeet is stored in secure operating environments that are not available to the public. In some instances, personal information is encrypted during storage and transmission. Only those of our employees and agents who need access to your personal information to do their jobs are allowed access, each having signed confidentiality agreements.


    While we make reasonable efforts to safeguard your personal information once we receive it, no transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or information we transmit to you from WhiMeet, and you assume all related risks.


    We regularly review the information that we collect and store. We retain your personal information for as long as we deem appropriate under our internal data retention policy, or until you request that we delete it. In certain cases, we may be required to retain your data to comply with applicable law or in connection with a legal claim.


    7. Other Information

    Lawful Bases.


    We collect and process your personal information only when we have a lawful basis to do so. Lawful bases include your consent, the fulfillment of our contractual rights or obligations, complying with applicable law, and the legitimate interests of us or third parties (provided that processing your data for a legitimate interest does not outweigh your rights and freedoms). Examples of a legitimate interest include (i) analyzing user data to maintain and improve WhiMeet for all users; (ii) providing you with access to WhiMeet; (iii) providing you with up-to- date information about new features of WhiMeet; and (iv) engaging third-party providers to deliver certain features of WhiMeet. You may withdraw your consent or object to a legitimate interest at any time by contacting us at the information provided below.


    Social Media.


    We allow sign-in to your WhiMeet account using your social media account. You can also share stories or other content from WhiMeet with your friends and followers on other social media.


    Do Not Track.


    Some browsers incorporate a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that, when turned on, signals to websites and online services that you do not want to be tracked. WhiMeet responds to the DNT signals.


    Children Under 18.


    If you are under the age of 18, please do not use or provide any personal information to WhiMeet. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18 and do not target WhiMeet to children under 18. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 18 has provided their personal information to us, please contact us by sending an email at support@whimeet.com, and we will delete that information.


    8. Your Choices

    Privacy Setting.


    You can control whether your User Content, is made public to other users of WhiMeet via the privacy settings in WhiMeet (e.g., public, friends only, followers only). For public viewable User Content, after you delete it, it may still be separately cached, copied, or stored by, or remain public through, other users or third parties who are not affiliated with and not controlled by us. Please consider carefully what you post public viewable User Content.


    Accessing Your Personal Information.


    If you would like to obtain a copy of your personal information gathered by WhiMeet, or if you would like to correct or delete such information from WhiMeet's database, send us an email at support@whimeet.com to submit a request. You may also make changes to your account information by logging into your account. Depending on the law that applies where you live, you may have additional rights, such as the right to request that we send your information to another organization of your choice (where technically feasible).


    Improper Collection and Misuse of Personal Information.


    Please report any improper collection or misuse of personal information provided on WhiMeet to support@whimeet.com.


    9. Privacy Policy Updates

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we update the Privacy Policy, we will notify you by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of the new Privacy Policy, posting the new Privacy Policy, popping up a window that requires acceptable of new Privacy Policy, or providing any other notice required by applicable law. We recommend that you review the Privacy Policy each time you visit WhiMeet to stay informed of our privacy practices.
